Another thing which struck me as I read the article. Obama said he didn't know how much his grandmothers hip replacement cost, but that he would have paid for it out of pocket, since she was his grandma. Even though his grandmother passed away before she got any real benefit from the surgery, why didn't Obama pay for it anyway? He said he would have. Why didn't he?
Asking follow-up questions in an interview must be harder than I thought...
