Vice-President Joe Biden
today:
"...the act was intended to provide steady support for our economy over an extended period — not a jolt that would last only a few months."
Vice -President Joe Biden
back in March:
”...the Recovery Act, as we call it, provides a necessary jolt to our economy to implement what we refer as ’shovel-ready’ projects.”
President-elect Barack Obama
back in November 2008:
"...we need a big stimulus package that will jolt the economy back into shape and that is focused on the 2.5 million jobs that I intend to create during the first part of my administration."
So (takes a deep breath): the
'stimulus', which was never supposed to be a
'stimulus' but a
'recovery', though called a
'stimulus' by the president hmself, was specifically
designed to create 2.5 million jobs, but
caused the loss of 2.6 million jobs, was supposed to
'jolt' the economy back into shape, though it was never supposed to
'jolt' anything. Or something like that...
I'm dizzy...
