This is one of the areas which goes to the heart of my reservations about the Oathkeepers:
Once he was elected, certified and inaugurated he is the officer appointed over every single service member and unless his orders are unlawful on their own merits, then they are binding. This is not something up for discussion or suit, it is a simple fact necessary for good order and discipline. If any soldier could challenge the standing of an officer appointed over him, we would be paralyzed and incapable of action.
I know what the problem is. Organizations like Oathkeepers are recruiting people based on their dislike of President Obama. At least that is the result of their recruiting. Let's face it, President Obama is a disaster after only six months. He cares about nothing but his own aggrandizement and the implementation of his ideology.
That being said, he is the CiC and everyone who takes the Oath has a duty to follow his orders. The mantra is "Our Oath is to the Constitution, NOT the politicians..." At face value this is true but insofar as the president is a politician, he is also the Commander in Chief as designated in the Constitution. The Constitution makes the president, whoever it is, the CiC. Military personnel don't have the "right" to question or not follow the CiC's orders, unless they are illegal.
These types of groups and soldiers like the guy Uncle Jimbo rails against simply have no authority nor the justification to simply disavow things because we don't like the guy in charge.
The Oath is much more complex than rendering it to a simple slogan.

NOTE: It has been two days since I resent an e-mail inquiry to the Oathkeepers organization attempting to get some clarification on some of this groups position. I originally sent e-mails last Monday, 7 July. I have yet to receive a reply to either set of e-mails.
