The War on Terror is now lost

Politically and philosophically, this nation has lost the War on Terror.

Militarily, it is only a matter of time before this administrations policies on this issue are strained through the DoD, at which time the "war on the ground" will be over, lost.  I am sick to my stomach.

Since the administration changed, it has been only a matter of time before we reached the point we're at now.  Mirandizing terrorists on the battlefield, or in a war zone?  What?!  And this administration can keep a straight face and tell us we're going to continue to take the fight to the terrorists?  How is it that no one in this administration or the media has made an issue of the fact that these terrorists aren't even entitled to Constitutional rights?  Technically, they aren't even entitled to Geneva Convention protection, but we're going to now Mirandize them?

This administration, and Democrats in particular have been itching to make the changes and implement the policies they are now.  Elections indeed have consequences.  One of those is that our nation, the United States, has returned to a law enforcement mentality when dealing with terrorists.  The sad consequences of such a strategy can be seen in a string of terror attacks around the world against US targets over the course of an entire decade - the 1990's, culminating in the attacks of September 11, 2001.

The sacrifices, the "blood, sweat and tears" of all of our fighting men and woman are now rendered irrelevant.  The future consequences of this action and the actions and further changes in policy which will follow will only result in more bloodshed and the unneccessary loss of American lives.

(Side Note:  This mentality has already worked it's way down into the DoD.  We can't even use the term "GWoT" - Global War on Terror - in performance reports anymore.  The term can't even be used anymore, in keeping with the administrations current policy.  They haven't gone so far as to say replace the GWoT term with "overseas contingency operation", but the result is the same.

When the military will not allow for the use of the term "war" on performance reports, how long before actual, military operations return to a more "sterilized" 1990's atmosphere?

The cynic in me is rearing its ugly head, yes.  But I fear that any actual prosecution of the current "war" as a "war" is over.)
