This time however the Republicans on the Energy & Commerce Committee had a play to call the Dems hand, Lord Christopher Monckton. Monckton, the former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret thatcher, is a pre-emminent "climate change denier", meaning he uses real science and reason as opposed to Gores fear-mongering in the 'debate' on global warming.
According to Monckton, House Democrats told the Republican committee staff earlier this week that they would be putting forward an unnamed 'celebrity' as their star witness Friday at a multi-panel climate hearing examining the House global warming bill. The "celebrity" witness turned out to be Gore. Monckton said the GOP replied they would respond to the Democrats' "celebrity" with an unnamed "celebrity" of their own. But Monckton claims that when the Democrats were told who the GOP witness would be, they refused to allow him to testify alongside Gore.
Of course the Democrats would do this. Gore has told them time and again the "science is settled" and a "scientific consensus" already exits.
To close out the 'Earth Day" festivities and what has been referred to as "Green " week at various media outlets, I offer this so you may see the true character of those who place a premium on Nature over mankind.
