I thought the election of the Obamamessiah (Praised be His name) moved us to a "
post-racial" world?
Not so much I guess:
Benediction at Obama 's inauguration, Rev. Joseph Lowery
: 'Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day
Black will not be asked to get in back;
When Brown can stick around;
When Yellow will be mellow;
When the Red Man can get ahead, man;
And when White will embrace what is right.
That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen. Say Amen'...
Was this a speech for 2008? Or 1968?
When "white will embrace what is right"? What? Didn't we just swear in the 44th President of the United States, a BLACK man?!
I'm still wondering why in the 21st century we still focus on race in this country. After reading (and hearing) this guys Benediction(?), not to mention practically the entire ceremony, I know why race is still an issue.
