A rundown of
Obama's agenda, taken from the White House.gov website (in no particular order):
Repeal the Defense of Marriage Act.
Repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". (Surprisingly, this is in the Civil Rights section of the agenda, not Defense)
Close low performing charter schools. No mention of closing low performing public schools. Huh.
Ensure 10% of our energy produced comes from renewable source by 2012. This one deserves a bit of discussion. At best right now, we get around 2% (maybe 3% on a good day) from renewable energy - renewable read as solar and wind primarily. According to Him, we are going to increase this number by almost 1000% in less than three years? Even a Obamaphile should have trouble swallowing that load or crap
Implement a economy-wide cap and trade system to reduce greenhouse gasses by 80% by 2050. Perhaps you think this wouldn't be such a bad thing? Let's leave the debate about whether man-made global warming is a crisis, let alone really happening. Let's for the sake of argument dissect this logically. I've posted on this before, but here we go again: Think of all the stuff you do in a typical day and think of all the energy you use to do that stuff - all the driving, the energy used by appliances in your home daily, all the stuff you do which contributes GHG's (and everything you do contributes, breathing alone accounts for tens of tons of released CO2 from every person every year). Now, cut all of that current energy use by 80%. Now superimpose that cut of energy use onto the entire economy of the entire country! Think of EVERYONE (personal, business, government) having to cut out 80% of the stuff they do today, not to mention 40 years from now! Perhaps you think we'll have less need for energy use by 2050? This one agenda item alone belies the fact that Obama is anything but a centrist and would do more to, at the very least, reduce our standard of living by 80% than reduce any GHG's.
Shine light on earmarks and pork barrel spending. I thought earmarks were going to be eliminated, not illuminated? By refusing to flat out do away with earmarks and pork spending, Obama proves yet again he is indeed no centrist.
They had some jabs at Bush about Katrina, but I think I found another once. Reform the political appointee process. That's funny. They call into questions former FEMA director Michael Brown, saying he was not qualified for his post (the same could be said for Obama, let's be honest) and resultant disaster was the result of said unqualification. I guess Tim Geithner is immenently qulified to head the Treasury, taxes be damned?
Nationalized health care. Definately not centrist.
Bring people out of the shadows on immigration. Otherwise "comprehensive immigration reform". That went over well back in 2007, let's give it another try. I'm sure John McCain will be more than willing to lend a hand...
This is only a portion of the agenda. Not in one place did I see we need to reduce or stop spending money we don't have. Not once did I see we need to reduce the size of government. In fact, Obama said we don't even need to debate the size of government anymore, big or small (in his inauguration speech). I read a lot about "tax cuts" for those who need it, this is simply government welfare - nothing more - giving "tax cuts" (refunds) to those who don't pay tax. No one has yet asked Obama how you give a tax cut to Americans who don't pay taxes, I'm just sayin.
I heard Bill Bennett of all people seemigly run interferance for Obama and this agenda on the radio this morning. I was just shocked. Paraphrasing: "Maybe he's just trying to appease the lefty base by posting this agenda. He might still run to the center." I have to respectfully disagree with Dr. Bennett. I am more inclined to take Rush Limbaugh's stance. Obama has a voting record, has made leftist appointments (though some could arguably be centrist), now this agenda is published on the White House website. There is nothing centrist about Obama. Ther eis definately nothing centrist about this agenda. Continuing to say he might run to the center just confuses people.
President Obama is who he is - a leftist, with a socialist bent and down right Marxist tendencies.
Period.
