The Four Stages of Obama/Blago Spin

Here's the pattern:

Stage 1:  I don't know him
Stage 2:  I know him a little
Stage 3:  I know him but I thought he'd gone to rehab
Stage 4:  I'm giving a major speech condeming everything he stands for (author note:  this stage could also be know as the "Bus, meet insert name of inconveninet political bagage here".)

More here from Ace.

The point has been made by others, and I wrote about it a bit in some comment threads over at Hot Air.  Remember last week?  Obama told us he was "absolutely certain" he nor any of his staff had any contact with Blago.  Remember that?  In the same presser Obama then went on to tell us he was having his staff do a "comprehensive review" to make sure there was not contact (it remains a mystery, since no one in the MSM has asked the question, why any type of review of possible contact needed to be conducted after Obama had just told the nation he was "absolutley certain" there was no contact).

This week Obama tells us that there was no "inappropriate contact" (again, a parsing of words, dependant upon ones interpretation of a definition, like "is") between Blago and his staff.  So last week was a lie.  Again the MSM doesn't call him on it.  Additionally we are told that we are going to have to wait until next week before said "comprehensive review" is released, by request of the US attorney.  Nothing like releasing possibly politically damaging information during Christmas week, when the minds of the nation are on other things eh?  I suppose we are lucky in one respect:  Obama isn't the CINC yet, so he can't order a cruise missile or air strike against aspririn factories to deflect attention.  Wait six weeks and we'll see about that however...

Obama will come out of this clean as a whistle.  Ultimately, if I had to make a prediction, some low level operative will meet the front end of the Obama bus, and will gladly sacrifice themselves for the sake of The One.

Call me a cynic.
