The Problem With NOAA

Why aren't NOAA, NASA and other government agencies (and NGO's like the IPCC) trustworthy when it comes to climate science?

The answer is really very simple - they have a dog in the hunt.  What do I mean by that?  It's part politics, part funding, part ideological bias.  It's really that simple.  Of course you don't need to read it from me.  Read it from others - scientists, climatologists, meteorologists.

I will provide a series of links.  These links will take you to various articles.  All of the articles are heavily referenced and re-enforced with data.  Many come with comparitive graphs.  Most of these links will deal with biases from some specific agencies - NOAA and NASA in particular.  But I offer this information for you, the reader, to make up your own mind about these agencies.  After reading these various articles, ask yourself a simple question:

Are these government agencies unbiased and are they being honest, scientific arbiters of fact.  I believe you will agree with me that showing a healthy dose of skepticism when it comes to climate information released from these agencies is a good thing.

Start with this article here:

Now read these articles.  They deal with the same subject, but from varying perspectives (in no particular order)

This article dealing with climate models (mentioning NOAA, IPCC, NASA, and the much vanted - by alarmists - James Hansen)

Problems with NOAA's Climate Data integrity

Problems with NOAA's ground temperature stations and measurement

NOAA's data in Press Release disagrees with it's own satellites

Problems with NASA and GISS (this used to be a favorite of the Townhall Troll.  Funny how facts tend to make alarmist liberals change their source material.)

Problems with NOAA's new climate Service

NOAA cherry picking data

There are many more articles and resources here.  What I find interesting is that if you follow the last link try this:  go all the way to the bottom of the page and take a look at the referenced material and work your way up.  The closer you get to the most recent articles, the more extreme the governments biases become.  Now in the interest of fairness I suppose it is possible that the site contributors could be showing a bias, but if you read the material I don't believe that to be the case.

The material is right there.  Read it.  Research it yourself.  Make up your own mind.

Townhall Troll Has Sold His Soul

Why?  Because he politicizes the deaths of American Servicemen.

Perhaps I should rephrase my title:  Townhall Troll doesn't deserve the Honor of either calling himself or being called a Vet.

A real veteran, an honorable veteran, should be saddened by the loss of American soldiers in battle.  Any time a comrade in arms makes the ultimate sacrifice, it is a sad event.  When a soldier dies in battle it is not celebrated.  Their death and sacrifice should be REVERED - NOT mocked to make cheap political points.  And a vet knows that, although losing a fellow soldier is painful it is sometimes necessary.

You, RAT, DISHONOR the sacrifice of your fellow countryman.  You have sold out your own Honor for a cheap thrill; a "quick buck" as it were.  If you did serve in the military you have sacrificed your Honor, your very soul, on the altar of a politically expedient soundbite.  You are the worst among men, not because of what you do to yourself, but what you do to the Honor and Spirit of soldiers who have died in battle.

I have seen RAT's posts about American servicemens deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq.  They disgust me.

The Townhall Troll is a disgrace.  If he is indeed a "vet" he is not an Honorable one.  He is most definately NOT a MAN OF HONOR!

His politicization of the deaths of American Servicemen shows him to be the smarmy, self-loathing Troll he is.  RAT, you should be ashamed of yourself.  Of course for a person to feel shame they must first have a conscious.  By your continued politicization of troops deaths you show you have neither.

I however will show you the respect you fail to show those who have fallen.  That respect doesn't come easy as this post shows, but I appeal to you - please stop writing posts politicizing the deaths of our comrades in arms.  If you once did serve, please honor the request of a fellow serviceman.  You can make a mockery of whatever you will, but please STOP making a mockery of the deaths of our fallen.

Pot calling Kettle RAT?

You call ME a liar?

With all the drivel you vomit out of your "blog"?

That is the funniest thing I've read all day!  (Not really, but still...)

: )

I know it's useless, but refute my sources - you're fond of using that excuse yourself aren't you?

You're right RAT! I am wrong!

James Hansen is at NASA, not NOAA.  My bad.

See?  This is what a person does when they are wrong...

They admit it.

Too bad you never had that lesson in life...

Department of Education is Gov agency too...

So is the IRS.  See where this is going?

Of course to a libtard like RAT, anything "GOVERNMENT" automatically means good.

You're a good little govenment dependent aren't you RAT?

NOAA Used by Activists/Alarmists; Run by Soros shill

NOAA Chief Climatologist James Hansen is a noted George Soros shill and advises Al Gore.

Instead of praising the fact that "all government agencies use NOAA" perhaps someone in those same angencies should exercise a little bit of fortitude and ask whether they should be using NOAA.

At least in the area of climate legislation and policy/research.

Obama Unfit as Commander-In-Chief

Just because he's Obama.

That's it.

NOAA Hardly A Paragon Of Scientific Integrity

Global warming DOES NOT cause "extreme" weather.  It DOES NOT cause stronger or more frequent hurricanes, tonadoes, etc.  And for a certain troll, alarmism is simply that.  And to cite an organization such as NOAA as a paragon of integrity?  You'll feel differently after reading the below report.

This is a partial repost from earlier in the week.

The NOAA/Climate Change Science Program “Unified Synthesis Product,” which I previously noted, and upon which EPA has indicated it intends to rely to support its GHG regulations, has had its plug pulled - for now. Here’s how and why.

First, the U.S. Chamber pointed out that a preponderance of the 21 reports that had purportedly been “synthesized” had not actually been produced yet. Sure, that sequence sounds odd in the real world, but is reminiscent of the IPCC, to which the USP appealed as the authority for certain otherwise unsupported claims (though the IPCC openly admits that it, too, performs no scientific research). This is a point we also made in our comments. I’m informed that NOAA has now agreed to publish the underlying documents first and then put out their desired USP. The Chamber should have a release out soon.

Second, a series of scientists, including Roger Pielke Sr. and Jr., Pat Michaels and Chip Knappenberger, Joe D’Aleo, Fred Singer, (Anthony Watts) and many others joined my colleague Marlo Lewis and me in exposing in detail the scientifically and legally unsupportable nature of the 208-page monstrosity. Key absurdities included breakout points in the Executive Summary of “Urgency of Action,” “Irreversible Losses,” “The Future Is in Our Hands” and ‘Tipping Points” (even though nowhere else did the document actually offer a discussion of “Tipping Points” that could be summarized), as well as calls for adoption of a certain policy agenda, all in a supposedly scientific document. The rest of the product was no less skewed, and I hope CEI will post many of these comments later today for your reading pleasure.

This time around, the authors cited their own work more than 100 times, blowing a kiss to the Wegman Committee which exposed the self-affirming and incestuous climate-science community. One addition to the team was a Susan Hassol, writer of the HBO Special Too Hot Not to Handle, produced by none other than Laurie David (I don’t know if Sheryl Crow did the soundtrack). So much for balance. As Pielke Jr. revealed, Ms. Hassol appeared to simply move some of her website’s claims into this self-proclaimed official U.S. government “highly influential scientific assessment.”

This attempt at "scientific" subterfuge was illuminated by so called "climate deniers" - otherwise known as real scientists

So.  NOAA, a government organization supposedly operating under the auspices of climate scientists, who should be practicing the "scientific method", piled together a mass of biased opinion, biased legislative polcies, and activist suggestions; performed no actual research, and tried passing it off as real science - or as they call it, "a highly influential scientific assessment."

The cruel irony is the scientists who pulled the alarm on this (as well as people like me who put this information out there) are the ones ostracized and denigrated - NOT the frauds and new snake oil salesman trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes.

Oreos: Newest Harbinger of Environmental Apocalypse

Yes, the cookie.  The eco-wackos will have to pry MY Double-Stuffs from my cold, dead hands...
And have you had the chocolate-covered oreos?  Oh.  My.  G_d!  An oral orgasm in every bite!  Sorry.  But they are soooo goood!

(Fortune) -- What do Oreo cookies made by Nabisco (KFT, Fortune 500), Cheez-It crackers from Kellogg's (K, Fortune 500) or General Mills' (GIS, Fortune 500) Fiber One Chewy Bars have to do with global warming and the destruction of tropical rainforests? A lot, say environmental activists.

The link between the supermarket shelf, climate change and shrinking rainforests is palm oil, a controversial ingredient that may now be the most widely-traded vegetable oil in the world.

Here's the problem: Demand for palm oil, which is found in soaps and cosmetics as well as food, has more than doubled in the last decade as worldwide food consumption has soared. Farmers, in turn, are expanding their plantations, burning forests in Indonesia and Malaysia, where nearly all of the palm oil imported to the United States originates. Deforestation is the primary reason that Indonesia's greenhouse gas emissions are the third-highest in the world.

The Rainforest Action Network, Greenpeace International, Friends of the Earth and the Center for Science in the Public Interest are all campaigning against palm oil. (You can find their arguments here and here and here and here.) Last week, RAN asked about 2,000 volunteers to sneak into food stores across the United States and attach stickers to products made with palm oil.

"Warning!," the stickers said. "May Contain Rainforest Destruction."

Why is it that when I see this type of stuff, I can't help but wonder what these people would do if there was nothing in the world left for them to b!tch about.

Sheesh.

NOAA Pulls New "Scientific" Climate Report

Why?  There was very little in the way of real "science" in the report and the biases were so thick you could cut them with a knife!

So much for scientific objectivity, eh NOAA?

Why anyone with a hint of common sense still give these groups, organizations, personnel the time of day (at least as it pertains to this topic) blows my mind!
