The DNC is fueling their vehicles for the Denver Convention with city gas. Avoiding having to pay local, state and federal fuel taxes.
While simultaneously sticking it to the tax payers of Denver
who pay for the gas the city uses.
The issue came up during the council's weekly meeting with Mayor John Hickenlooper when the Public Works Department requested authorization to be reimbursed by the Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee for use of "fueling facilities, fuel and car washes."
"By doing it this way, by running it through our Fleet Maintenance, that means that that fuel does not pay state or federal highway taxes," Faatz said.
So. The DNC is skipping out on paying 40+ cents per gallon on fuel (gas paid for by City of Denver taxpayers btw) AND they are using vehicle maintenance facilities (read oil changes and such - ALSO paid for by City of Denver taxpayers)...
AND washing their vehicles using city facilities (water) also paid for by City of Denver taxpayers. Those car washes being accomplished while Colorado is suffering from a drought.
So we mere mortal subjects of the Almighty and Most Benificent Exalted Obamamessiah can't even catch a break on the federal gas tax of 18 cents for a few months this summer. But Democratic Party Dignitaries (and
His Most Enlightened One) catch a break on
ALL fuel taxes so they can throw a damn
party?!
One must wonder why Obama is allowing such a travesty against Gaia continue after making
this statement about letting us lowly serfs benefit from a tax break (however small and temporary):
“We're arguing over a gimmick that would save you half a tank of gas over the course of the entire summer so that everyone in Washington can pat themselves on the back and say they did something,” said Obama.
“Well, let me tell you, this isn't an idea designed to get you through the summer, it's designed to get them through an election,” said Obama.
Or at least through your ascension, right Mr. Obama?
O Barry, Barry quite contrary
I'm not going to lie, rhymes and limericking aren't my bag. But it does have a ring to it...
