Not motorcyslists - BICYCLISTS! Mob mentality in the "activist" mind. You just have to
read this one for yourself:
Seattle police said they were still looking today for one of a group of Critical Mass bicyclists who attacked and injured a driver during a violent altercation on Capitol Hill Friday evening.
Two other bicyclists have been jailed. But some riders in the event have said the driver was the aggressor.
Just after 7 p.m. Friday, the group of at least 100 bicyclists was moving en masse down East Aloha Street when a man and his girlfriend in a Subaru station wagon tried to pull out of a parking spot, said Seattle police spokesman Mark Jamieson.
For years, Critical Mass has held monthly public bike rides through Seattle to demonstrate for bicyclists' road rights.
According to Jamieson, as the Critical Mass group moved down the street, blocking traffic, some riders got in the way of the Subaru and prevented it from leaving. Some bikers sat on the car and were banging on it, he said.
"The driver was pretty fearful that he was about to be assaulted by the bicyclists," Jamieson said.
The man tried to back up, but bumped into a biker. "This enraged the group," Jamieson said.
Several of the bikers bashed up the Subaru, shattering the windshield and rear window, Jamieson said.
The driver tried to drive away, but hit another bicyclist, Jamieson said. Still, he drove about a block, to the corner of Aloha and 15th Avenue East, before the Critical Mass riders cornered the car again and started spitting on it and banging against it.
One bicyclist punched the driver through his open window, and another used a knife to slash the Subaru's tires, Jamieson said.
The driver got out of his car, and was hit in the back of the head, opening a large gash.
If you read the rest of the article, you see the typical tactics of "aggressor becoming the victim" garbage. The guy driving the car was simply trying to leave where he was and was accosted (and his property damaged) for no good reason. No reason other than the tyranny of the "activist" that is.
I'm not saying the motorist is completely innocent here, he did "bump" or "hit" a bicyclist or two, but those were accidents. Had the guy wanted to be malicious, he would have simply rolled over them, or really hit them hard. And a case could be made by the driver that he felt threatened (and was in fact, threatened) and he was acting in self defense, using his vehicle as the defensive instrument. And had the bicyclists not been there or cleared a path (instead of trying to make an intimidating point) no bicyclists would have been hit and everything would have been fine.
Of course, mob mentality then takes over when the driver does bump a cyclist and full blown assault on the driver takes place (not to mention property damage/destruction). Why didn't the cyclists simply take down the guys license plate number and call the cops?
Naturally the cyclists were just "advocating for bicyclist rights", so they should be absolved of ANY responsibility for their actions. They have rights! They have a message! Everyone else be damned!
Another thing which strikes me is that NO ONE other than the motorist tried to diffuse the situation by leaving! All the cyclists had to do was take down the vehicle description./information and call the cops and let the motorist leave. But they didn't. This speaks volumes to their true motivations.
Potesters always like to wax philosophical about how they are being "peaceful". They simply want to be heard. They are innocent little cherubs simply exercising their 1st Amendment rights dontch know! Protesters/Activists/Demonstrators would NEVER stoop to violence! They aren't "about" violence, just ask them. They are "about" their message, man!
That is until someone who believes contrary to their "message" shows up or voices oppostition. Then what happens? Riot baby! Mob mentality! Because if you have a view contrary to the view of the mob, YOU'RE "rights" all of a sudden don't seem to matter anymore. In fact, the whole concept of "rights" and "freedom" is preconditioned by the mob! You MUST believe as the mob does - or you're the enemy, plain and simple.
Just look at these bicyclists. Look at almost ANY example out there. If you don't believe me just look up the info on what your so-called "peaceful activist/demonstrator" has in store for the Democratic Convention in Denver! Our televisions and monitors will be full of rioters and demonstrators in just a few weeks time - all of them believing themselves to be "right". Believing they are "freely exercising their rights" all the while tramping all over the real rights of those who disagree and the innocents around them.
An overabundance of unresolved personal grievances, self doubts, and anger too often creates a person who when faced with the need to identify the underlying causes for their rage, rejects the possibility that it comes from conflict from within and instead embraces the delusion that it comes from evil external institutional or cultural forces. Rage based from within is difficult and painful to address, rage based upon perceived external forces on the other hand, gives one license to live a life of continual outrage and avoid any self introspection.
