McGovern endorses Hilldog

Some of the Paulbots won't like this.  From Jammieswearingfool:

Mrs. Clinton has snagged the all-important George McGovern endorsement. No stopping this freight train now. Though we can only hope this hag loses 49 states like her idol did.

In a nod to the far-left fossil, she's also copying his ridiculous idea of giving $1,000 to every child born in America, only adjusted for inflation,
she's upped the ante to $5,000.

September 29, 2007 -- Hillary Clinton's White House bid reportedly is set today to receive the endorsement of the Democrats' most radical ever presidential nominee: former Sen. George McGovern, who topped his party's ticket in 1972.

Which could explain why Hillary seems to be feeling all '70s nostalgic.

Back in 1972, recall, McGovern proposed that every single American be given a $1,000 check, no questions asked, regardless of financial need.

Even his fellow Democrats ridiculed the idea - especially when McGovern admitted that he had no idea how much it would cost and how it would be paid for.

Sounds just like Hitlery.  Lib Dems are indeed like Hollywood - not an original idea in decades.

35 liters of beer in 4 days

The longest, most destructive hangover in history?  Well, someone had to do it!

From The Herald Sun:

It may be the longest hangover in the history of binge beer drinking.

When a 37-year old man walked into a hospital emergency room in Glasgow, Scotland last October complaining of "wavy" vision and a non-stop headache that had lasted four weeks, doctors were at first stumped, the British journal The Lancet reported today.

The unnamed patient "had no history of head injury or loss of consciousness; his past medical record was unremarkable, and he was taking no medications," Zia Carrim and two other physicians from Southern General Hospital said in a case report.

Body temperature and blood pressure were both normal, and a neurological exam scanned negative.

But when an eye specialist was called in, the fog began to clear, at least for the doctors.

The patient, said the ophthalmologist, had swollen optical discs, greatly enlarged blind spots and what eye doctors call "flame haemorrhages," or bleeding nerve fibres.

This is when the man revealed he had consumed 60 pints - roughly 35 litres - of beer over a four day period, following a domestic crisis.

Doctors believe severe dehydration, caused by the alcohol, led to a rare condition called cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). A scan of the brain's blood vessels confirmed the diagnosis.

CVST - which can cause seizures, impaired consciousness, loss of vision and neurological damage - strikes three or four people per million, mainly children, every year in Britain. The cause is generally unknown.

It took more than six months of long-term blood-thinning treatment to restore the man's normal vision - and to get rid of the headache, the doctors reported.

Perhaps he was celebrating a Cowboys win?!

American Troops dissed at Oakland Airport?

Marines and soldiers returning from war not allowed to enter Oakland Airports terminal.

We can't profile Muslims or others in airports, but we'll deny entry to terminals for Marines and soldiers coming in on a plane - which was already screened and checked at the prior departure point?

All of this piling up and with the treatment of troops in San Francisco - I'll go ahead and say it - can we just have the big one so good ol Cali will just fall off into the ocean?!

From MichelleMalkin:

Two days ago, an e-mail about the rude treatment of Marines and soldiers returning from Iraq started making the rounds on the Internet. The brother of one of the mistreated Marines who described the incident at Oakland Airport works on the Hill. The brother forwarded the Marine’s e-mail around. The e-mail is real, contrary to the Daily Kos nut who dismissed it as “fake” without any evidence whatsoever (can you say p-r-o-j-e-c-t-i-o-n). I contacted the Marine chaplain to verify the e-mail on Friday. He confirmed.

You can read the whole thing
here or here at The Corner from Michael Ledeen.

In short: “On September 27th 204 Marines and soldiers who were returning from Iraq were not allowed into the passenger terminal at Oakland International Airport.Instead they had to deplane about 400 yards away from the terminal where the extra baggage trailers were located. This was the last scheduled stop for fuel and food prior to flying to Hawaii where both were based. The trip started in Kuwait on September 26th with a rigorous search of checked and carry on baggage by US Customs. All baggage was x-rayed with a ‘backscatter’ machine AND each bag was completely emptied and hand searched. After being searched, checked bags were marked and immediately placed in a secure container. Carry on bags were then x rayed again to ensure no contraband items were taken on the plane. While waiting for the bus to the airport, all personnel were in quarantined in a fenced area and were not allowed to leave.” Nevertheless, Oakland forbade them from entering its terminal. According to the Marine, a Lieutenant who served in Afghanistan with the same unit in 2006 noted that Oakland had treated troops the same way before. He “was almost arrested by the TSA for getting belligerent about them not letting the Marines into the terminal,” despite more rigorous screening prior to landing in Oakland. Both JFK airport and in Germany had no problem with the Marines entering their terminals.

There is much more to the story, including the airports 'explanation'.  Follow the above link for full details.

"9/11 has made us stupid."

Care for some moronically light reading from the New York Terrorists, er, I mean Times?

Here's the relevant quote - which is all I'm posting.  But here's the link if you have some duct tape handy:

This: 9/11 has made us stupid. I honor, and weep for, all those murdered on that day. But our reaction to 9/11 — mine included — has knocked America completely out of balance, and it is time to get things right again.

Advocating living in a 9/12 world with a 9/10 mindset.

Parroting the Terrorists - 9/11 our fault.

Folks like Ahmadinejad sound just like certain presidential candidates don't they?

From Ace:

Gee, I wonder what sort of "respect" he would have paid to the dead of 9/11. (No link yet; reported over the air on FoxNews.)

The Iranian parliament meanwhile has declared
the US armed forces and CIA as "terrorist organizations" in a childish tit-for-tat over our branding of the terrorist Quds forces as terrorists.

We brought 9/11 on ourselves?

This logic continues to escape me.

Lets say that the drivel Ron Paul and others spout about blowback is 100% correct.  Let's also assume that the arguments of all the terrorists in the world about America are correct.  And let's also assume that everything the Mulsims and terrorists say about them being peaceful and only wanting peace and to live in harmony with the West is true.

Does any of that justify the 9/11 attacks?  If they are as peaceful as they say they are, why would they result to such an attack?  Is that type of scale of murdering and destruction justified?  Do peaceful, rational, and civilized people respond that way if they have political disagreements?  Or are all their 'argument' simply a smokescreen to camoflage their savagery?  Occams' Razor anyone?

Let's turn the blowback philosophy around for a minute.  I don't like the fact that illegal aliens from Mexico are in the US.  But I'm not advocating, nor am I participating in, nor am I sending my children out to destroy Mexican Embassies in the US.  Americans aren't homicide bombing illegal alien day worker areas.  Civilized and rational people do not respond to things in such a manner.

Animals do.

7 Life Lessons learned playing HALO

Plus bonus video.  Words to live by.  From "Pick the Brain":

Master Chief
Yesterday I had a blast playing Halo 3 for the first time. It lead me to reflect on the countless hours I’ve poured into the Halo series over the past 6 years. Sure, I might not have much to show for it, but that time was thoroughly enjoyed. In retrospect, I even learned some important life lessons that have helped me succeed.

1. Hesitation is death
- In Halo, nothing will get you cracked on the back of the skull faster than hesitation. The same is true in real life. If you waste time worrying about what your competitors are doing, you’ll never succeed. Sure, if you take a chance you might get burned, but you need to accept that risk and make a move. If you fail, learn from the experience and try again. Success comes from being aggressive and actively seeking opportunities.

2. Success requires experience
- Obviously natural skill contributes to Halo success, but what really makes a solid player is experience. If you jump into a game without understanding the geography of the map or the capabilities of the various weapons, you won’t stand a chance against an equally skilled player who does. The lesson here is that to acquire an expertise, you need to put in the time to learn the basics. If you don’t know the medium you’re working in, you’ll be strategically disadvantaged.

3. You can’t win without teamwork
– In team Halo matches, the ability of players to work together is more important than individual skill. A group of solo artists working against a unified team will constantly be isolated and overwhelmed. To be successful you need to sacrifice personal glory to watch your buddy’s back. Once you can get past ego and start to cooperate with others there will be more success for everyone.

4. Anticipation is the key to victory
– The key to making a sweet kill in Halo is knowing what your opponent is going to do before he does. This comes from experience and pattern recognition. When you can anticipate, you can place yourself in the ideal position to bury your competitors before they have the time to adjust.

For the rest, follow the above link.

And you thought video gaming was stupid!

Oh, and if you don't know what HALO is - it's only the best video game EVAH!!!

Illinois Schools Cancelling Christmas, Halloween

Why?  Hold onto your hat - to avoid offending Muslims.

From the Chicago Sun Times.com: (emphasis mine trhoughout)

BY ANGELA CAPUTO Daily Southtown

So long, Halloween parade. Farewell, Santa's gift shop.

The holiday traditions are facing elimination in some Oak Lawn schools this year after complaints that the activities are offensive, particularly to Muslim students.

Final decisions on which of the festivities will be axed will fall to the principals at each of Ridgeland School District 122's five schools, Supt. Tom Smyth said.

Parents expect that the announcement is going to add to the tension that has been building since officials agreed earlier this month to change the lunch menu to exclude items containing pork to accommodate Muslim students. News that Jell-O was struck from the menu caused such a stir that officials have agreed to bring it back. Gelatin is often made with tissue or bones of pigs or other animals.

That controversy now appears to have been been dwarfed by the holiday debate, which became so acrimonious Wednesday that police were called to Columbus Manor School to intervene in a shouting match among parents.

Why is a school board having to do this?  Banning Jell-O?  Now school holidays!?  More:

Elizabeth Zahdan, a mother of three District 122 students, says she took her concerns to the school board this month, not because she wanted to do away with the traditions, but rather to make them more inclusive. "I only wanted them modified to represent everyone," she said.

Nixing them isn't the response she was looking for. "Now the kids are not being educated about other people," she said.

There's just not time in the six-hour school day to celebrate every holiday, said Smyth, who sent the message to principals that they need to "tone down" the activities that he sees as eating too much into instructional time. "We have to think about our purpose," Smyth said. "Are we about teaching reading, writing and math or for parties or fund-raising during the day?"

This is what political correctness hath wrought.  The Holidays should be more "inclusive"?  Why?  They should represent everyone?  Why?  And I love the whole, "I only wanted them modified".  Yeah like the Borg only want to modify people to make them better huh?

Halloween and particularly Christmas are American traditional events.  Though I don't really count Halloween a holiday, it is a cultural event.  These things, barring their religious overtones, are woven into the fabric of what America is.

This should be illustrative of what inclusion  should be about.  Which religion here is trying to be inclusive?  Christians aren't objecting to Halloween.  Wiccans aren't objecting to Christmas.  Each of those religions has changed the way it deals with each other and combats what they believe to be problems in a different way.  For example:  Christians who don't like Halloween celebrations are having their own biblical themed parties to counter Halloween parties.  They aren't going to the school board and demanding Halloween be taken off the calendar.

So again, which religion is being inclusive?  Or should I say exclusive?  If a Muslim does not want to participate in the festivities of either of these two holidays, don't.  That's how this used to be dealt with.  Schools didn't throw the baby out with the bathwater.  And another thing - how insecure do you have to be in your faith to think a bowl of Jell-O will taint your soul?

More:

Robertson is hoping to strike compromises that will keep traditions alive and be culturally acceptable to all students -- nearly half of whom are of Arab descent at Columbus Manor, she says. Fewer than a third of students districtwide are of Arab descent, according to Smyth.

Culturally sensitive?  Are these kids Americans or not?  Chicago is in the United States right?  These traditions are uniquely American.  That's what these people have a problem with in my opinion.

And this is a perfect example of the tyranny of the minority.  These students represent less than a third of those of arab descent?

Bowing to this kind of nonsense is just another example of Sharia creep and the increasing dhimmitude exhibited by politicians and other such institutions as the Chicago School Board.

Stand up for your country people.

This type of stuff should be laughed out of meetings and not given the time of day.

Silky's own racial quagmire?

Watch this video of John Edwards addressing issues about black youth in America:

For a longer video with even more questionable remarks, head over to Hot Air.  You really need to watch the full length version to become completely offended.

Is there a group of people in this country he didn't offend with this vid?  Is therre not one racial sterotype he didn't pander too either?

Double standard check:  Can anyone even begin to imagine if this had been a Republican candidate?

PS - That IS NOT a $400 haircut.  If it is, he got ripped off.

Murtha to testify in defamation case

John "our Marines are cold-blooded killers" Murtha can run but he can't hide from this judge.

From Hot Air:

And as the judge points out, giving Murtha a pass here might set dangerous precedent.

“You’re writing a very wide road for members of Congress to go to their home districts and say anything they choose about private persons and be able to do so without any liability. Are you sure you want to do that?” Collyer said, adding later, “How far can a congressman go and still be protected?”

Collyer said she was troubled by the idea the lawmakers are immune from lawsuits regardless of what they say to advance their political careers.

If average Americans can’t get away with slander, why should Murtha?

As the rest of the post says, Murtha hurt our war effort by saying the things he did.  His actions gave propaganda aid to our enemies in a time of war and he should be made to pay to the fullest extent possible.

And that's not the worst of it.  His comments made these Marines lives a living hell for the past two years.  Their careers have been ruined and their lives needlessly disrupted.

John Murtha is the worst of America.

Biofuels should be an endangered species

You never hear in the MSM the dangers biofuels pose to the environment.

They produce more greenhouse gasses than regular petroleum based fuels.  And in order the harvest enough of the specific biomatter to make it, you must destroy much more acres of specific types of land to harvest the crops.

Mush more land than any oil pipeline has ever 'damaged' I might add.

If you don't believe me, how about lefty greeny and activist Jane Goodall?

From Newsbusters:

On Wednesday, Goodall, best known for her chimpanzee research and media appearances, said “on the sidelines” of the Clinton Global Initiative that growing crops for vehicle fuels is endangering rain forests in Asia, Africa and South America and adding to anthropogenic global warming (bold mine throughout):

We're cutting down forests now to grow sugarcane and palm oil for biofuels and our forests are being hacked into by so many interests that it makes them more and more important to save now.

If only Reuters had acknowledged the other scientific findings that show biofuels produce more greenhouse gases than oil and gasoline, as NewsBusters has documented. But at least Reuters noted Goodall's narrow criticism about destroying rain forests.

Reuters explained the crux of the Goodall's displeasure:

The United Nations' climate program considers the fuels to be low in carbon because growing the crops takes in heat-trapping gas carbon dioxide.

But critics say demand for the fuels has led companies to cut down and burn forests in order to grow the crops, adding to heat-trapping emissions and leading to erosion and stress on ecosystems.

And some more inconvenient truths about these 'biofuels'

NewsBusters' Noel Sheppard pointed out  that scientists such as Prof. Keith Smith of the University of Edinburgh found that “rapeseed and maize biodiesels were calculated to produce up to 70 percent and 50 percent more greenhouse gases respectively than fossil fuels.”

Not only that, but “biofuels released twice as much as nitrous oxide as previously realised” through the nitrogen in the fertilizer.

More damning, Dr. Dave Reay found that with those findings and “the US Senate aiming to increase maize ethanol production sevenfold by 2022, greenhouse gas emissions from transport will rise by 6 per cent.
