I attended a Ron Paul rally here in downtown San Antonio today. This is an initial report.
This is going to be quick, I'll give a detailed report with photos tomorrow. - I'm just plain wore out right now.
Anyway, not much really to tell. Thankfully there weren't many nutrooters there. If there were more, they kept their mouth shut at this rally.
Some Code Pinkers, a few drug legalization folks. A couple of guys wearing Guy Fawkes masks, but no obvious 'Truthers' or other wack jobs.
I was pleasantly surprised by this. One of the points I've constantly been making is that for Ron Paul to be identified with that type of element doesn't help his campaign or his message.
When I first reached the 'headquarters' they were playing some conspiracy radio recording about how military Generals weren't the ones taking anthrax vaccines, it was us 'expendable soldiers', but that was really the extent of the weirdness.
My feelings about Ron Paul haven't really changes all that much. I still don't think his foreign policy ideas are realistic in this day and age. His campaign apparently beginning to distance itself from the wackos though is nothing but a good thing for him. He is good on the stump though, but he is a politician after all. And I can say that I would probably never get as close physically to one of the 'top tier' candidates as I did to Ron Paul today.
Anyway, I'll give a detailed report on what I saw, put up some photos, etc. tomorrow.
