My Immigration Question: When will it end?

If this not-an-amnesty-but really-is bill passes and/or is signed into law; once the 12-20 million illegals are thereby made, ostensibly legal; once they are all entitled to all the benefits and programs American citizens are entitled to; once all these illegals are all made, for all intents-and-purpose, American citizens...

What do we do then with all those jobs that Americans won't do?

Excerpt from Hugh Hewitt on immigration

Posted from RWN:  If Harriet Miers' Biggest Defender Says This About The Amnesty Bill, You Know It's A Real Dog

"At this point I take out my Harriet Miers Fan Club charter membership card and put it on the table: This push for this bill is a disaster, Mr. President. Much much worse than the Miers nomination on which you had many good arguments, or the ports deal, on which you had fewer. On this issue there is no place to stand, and you are asking your friends in the Senate to go down fighting for a bad bill. It is a bad bill because no one believes the government can conduct millions of background checks (many spokesmen for the bill don't even pretend to know where the paperwork will go!). No one believes the bill will halt the next 12 million. No one believes you are going to assure the fence gets built. No one believes that the employer verification system will get done or work when some half-assed version of it does get done. No one believes that the probationary visas don't automatically convert illegal aliens with few if any rights into Due Process Clause covered legal migrants, with a Ninth Circuit ready and waiting to keep them here for decades.

No one believes passing the bill will help catch the jihadist sleepers already in the country. The constituency that has always been with you except on the ports deal --the security voter-- has left the room. If you want them back, act quickly." -- Hugh Hewitt

Audio: Laura Ingraham vs. Linda Chavez

Hey Townhall - you bunch of racist, bigoted Mexican haters you!!  That's what Linda Chavez says.

How dare you voice your opinion!  I'm sure she has received some 'hate mail' from lots of people, but this is more of playing the victim amongst others things.

Gloriously, Laura doesn't let her get away with it.  Great segment!  Posted from Hot Air:

Two pundits enter. One pundit leaves.

I keed.

Linda Chavez appeared on the Laura Ingraham Show this morning to justify smearing fellow conservatives over the immigration shamnesty bill. Laura didn’t let her get away with it. Click to play.

Ron Paulers - Crybabies!

I was originally going to post this as a response to a comment on my blog, but I pot it here for the entire TH community to read.  Enjoy!

Now that's name calling!  First, I never called Mr. Paul a name in this post.  Well, I did call him a wacko and I did call him kooky.

I then presented evidence of that kookiness.  Not conjecture, but facts.  But for your sake, I'll reiterate:

1.  Mr. Paul has zero chance of being the Republican nominee for President  I don't care what his policies are, what his stances are, or anything else.  He has zero chance of receiving the nomination.  If you can't see that, your deluded.

2.  Mr. Paul cavorts with 9/11 Truthers.  I posted the video of it.  I know there are those of you who support trutherism and other assorted conspiracy theories (like the Kennedy assassination) but to me, his cavorting with truthers, which in my book are America haters, makes him kooky.  I guess I could post the video of the planes flying into the WTC towers, but this wouldn't matter to a person who believes (however slightly) that our own government was responsible for those attacks.  To me, his simply associating and positively engaging 9/11 truthers is enough for me to call him a kook.

3.  I may indeed agree with some of the 'policies' Mr. Paul speaks of.  Just as I fundamentally agree that I like beer.  Mr. Paul may also like beer, but this does not make us spiritually joined on political philosophy.  ANY person, particularly a presidential candidate, that in ANY WAY supports 9/11 truthers, is not the man to be president.

Now, as for calling him names.  I find this argument a dodge for you Paulers out there.  You engage in the same tactic on my blog, yet somehow you believe you hold the moral high ground simply because you like your guy.

You are free to disagree with me all you want.  But I am also equally free to call Mr. Paul any name I wish and make fun of any policy of his I disagree with, just as I do with McCain, Clinton, Edwards, Obama, etc.

I you don't like it, don't read my stuff!

We agree on amnesty.  But I will not support, or grant positive press to, a man who believes his own government (of which he has been a part of for decades)had anything to do with 9/11.

If you don't like that, start your own blog and counter me if you wish.

Otherwise, shut the he!! up!

I try to make some reasoned arguments about Paul (and yes, poke a little fun) and you Paulers go nuts!

Grow up!  If you or your guy don't have the cajones to stand up to some criticism, he (or you by proxy) definately don't have the stones to be the leader of the free world!!!!!!!

Local liberals learning new lessons on ‘diversity’

Turnabout is fair play?

WASHINGTON (Map, News) - While President Bush and pro-amnesty members of Congress are pushing an unpopular immigration “reform” bill that would bestow American citizenship on millions of people who have no regard for America’s laws, liberal Democrats across the Washington region are increasingly complaining about overcrowded houses, noise, loitering and general public nuisance — all caused by illegal aliens.

These local liberals are in no mood for “celebrate diversity” chants.

Listening recently to frustrated folks call a local radio talk show to vent about illegal aliens loitering in front of stores and cramming into $400,000 houses in their neighborhoods, I wondered if those same liberals accused pro-enforcement Americans of being “nativists,” “xenophobes” and “racists” for complaining about the same problems.

Now that illegal aliens have migrated to their neighborhoods, such liberals have become pro-enforcement all of a sudden.

A Republican called in to say her Democratic friends labeled her a racist when she’d complain about illegal immigration. She’d tell them something like, “You just wait until it happens to you. Then you’ll be singing a different tune.”

It’s happening to them, and they are singing a different tune. It turns out that liberals in half-a-million-dollar houses don’t like living next door to a single-family house filled to the brim with illegal aliens who park on the front lawn, throw trash everywhere and urinate outside.

Congressional Democrats don’t talk about such discontent among their constituents, but locals are keenly aware that the federal government has abdicated its role as immigration law enforcer. State and local governments are compelled to assume control.

Democrats on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in Virginia may be ousted in November if they don’t deal with the growing problems. Rick Gordon, a homeland security consultant, told The Washington Post that “Enough is enough. These frauds need to go!”

He complained about an illegal alien boarding house in his neighborhood, and Supervisor Penelope Gross told him “The county’s hands were tied.” (Turque, Bill and Brulliard, Karin, “Overflowing Fairfax Homes Split Neighbors,” Washington Post, May 13, p. A1)

Gordon emphasized that his was no “right-wing Nazi community. … Everybody is a liberal Democrat.”

Local governments are forced to try to fix what the federal government will not. Last year, in the town of Herndon, the people removed the mayor and two town council members who voted for a day labor center. The town applied for and obtained permission to begin 287(g) immigration enforcement training, which will give local law enforcement the authority to carry out federal immigration laws.

Citizens in Manassas organized a group called “Help Save Manassas” to raise awareness of the negative effects of overcrowding and loitering.

Leesburg is considering adopting stricter regulations on overcrowding.

The Virginia House of Delegates passed a measure that would block public funds to charities and other organizations that provide services to illegal aliens.

Some black residents in the Brentwood section of Northeast Washington have gone on record to complain about illegal aliens — who litter and urinate — gathering near the Home Depot in their neighborhood.

Perhaps it will take a lot more overcrowding, loitering and public urination for congressional Democrats (and the Republican president) to understand the urgent need to enforce immigration laws currently on the books instead of writing new ones to reward lawbreakers with American citizenship.

Local liberals are learning a valuable and important lesson: Not all “diversity” is worth celebrating.

Religiously Motivated Slayings in Anaheim?

A 22-year old Muslim man from Van Nuys has been arrested in what appears to be a revenge attack against the family of his former girlfriend: Rampage against Anaheim family tied to breakup?

She was a college freshman whose Hindu family didn’t believe in dating before marriage. He was a Muslim, which troubled her parents, and they convinced her that he wasn’t the one.

Their breakup, investigators said, might have played a role in a string of vicious crimes that unfolded in Orange County last week: Her Anaheim Hills home was set ablaze, her mother savagely beaten and her father and sister killed. The victims had been strangled, bludgeoned, burned and stabbed, according to court records.

The young man, Iftekhar Murtaza, 22, of Van Nuys, was arrested last weekend at the Phoenix airport in connection with the slayings. He had left Southern California after investigators questioned him and was carrying a one-way ticket to Bangladesh.

Phone records indicated that Murtaza’s cellphone had been used less than two miles from one of the crime scenes an hour or so before the killings. He told authorities he was not in Anaheim that day, court documents said. ...

A few weeks before the slayings, Murtaza and his girlfriend, Shayona Dhanak, an 18-year-old UC Irvine student, had broken up after three years. It was unclear how the pair met and how they had dated for so long despite her family’s disapproval.

Murtaza had stayed off and on at a condominium on Langdon Avenue in North Hills, where his parents most recently lived. He worked at a loan company, said a woman affiliated with the Langdon Village homeowners association. His penchant for blowing through stop signs in flashy cars — first a Mustang convertible, lately a Range Rover — annoyed neighbors, said the woman, who declined to give her name. Murtaza has been ticketed for speeding in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

Murtaza’s family sold the condo about a month ago and had purchased real estate in Gilbert, Ariz., property records show. His father, however, still works at a convenience store in Van Nuys called Discount Cigarette. He declined to comment Wednesday. “I strongly believe that he has no part in it,” said Ishtiak Murtaza, one of Iftekhar Murtaza’s older brothers, according to the Associated Press.

And this AP story at Fox news exhibits that peculiar reluctance to state facts that we’ve come to expect in stories of this nature: Authorities Believe Religious Differences Played Role in Slaying of California Father, Daughter.

ANAHEIM, California  —  A man held for questioning in the murder of a father and daughter in California was upset with the family because they broke off his relationship with another daughter for religious reasons, court documents indicated.

Friends told the Orange County Register newspaper the victims were devoutly Hindu, and court papers said the religions in question were Hindu and Muslim.

Do the math.  (H/T: LGF)

AP Flying Pig Watch

The flying pig is out of the hangar for this one, not because Iraqis in west Baghdad are demanding an end to the Al Qaeda thugs, but because of the Associated Press’s headline: Iraq residents rise up against al-Qaida.

I did a classic double-take when I first read it. What the ... hey! It’s an anti-Al Qaeda intifada! And AP reported it! Good wire service. Here’s a treat.

BAGHDAD - A battle raged Thursday in west Baghdad after residents rose up against al-Qaida and called for U.S. military help to end random gunfire that forced people to huddle indoors and threats that kept students from final exams, a member of the district council said. ...

U.S. forces backed by helicopter gunships clashed with suspected al-Qaida gunmen in western Baghdad’s primarily Sunni Muslim Amariyah neighborhood in an engagement that lasted several hours, said the district councilman, who would not allow use of his name for fear of al-Qaida retribution.

Casualty figures were not immediately available and there was not immediate word from the U.S. military on the engagement. But the councilman said the al-Qaida leader in the Amariyah district, known as Haji Hameed, was killed and 45 other fighters were detained.

Members of al-Qaida, who consider the district part of their so-called Islamic State of Iraq, were preventing students from attending final exams, shooting randomly and forcing residents to stay in their homes, the councilman said.

UPDATE at 5/31/07 2:22:51 pm:

Iraq the Model says the AP got this one wrong; and that’s even more flying pig-worthy, because normally, all their errors are of the anti-US variety.  (H/T: LGF)

New Immigration FAQ

This is funny stuff.  Also, here's your Mild Content Warning: (H/T: Jawa)

IMMIGRATION BILL FAQ

Q. I'm concerned that the immigration bill focuses more on giving illegal immigrants amnesty than border protection. Does the President share these concerns?

A. The President doesn't hate brown people.

Q. This isn't a racial issue. Many people think this bill will only encourage more illegal immigration and leave our borders open and dangerous. What are the answer to these charges?

A. To answer your underlying question, I'm afraid the the President is against your proposal to commit genocide against Hispanics.

Q. This isn't about Hispanics! This is about our laws being respected and our national security!

A. Unfortunately, America has had a long history of closed-minded bigots like you who hate all immigrants and want to keep the nation white and pure. To answer what we can only assume will be your next question, no, jackboots aren't tax deductible, but have fun in your neo-Nazi march anyway.

It gets better. Read the rest here.

The Human Face of Non-Enforcement

Under President Bush's amnesty plan, folks like Ezequiel Lopez will be able to get their hands on "Probationary Z-Visa status" without a background check: (Posted from Jawa)

KENOSHA - The man now charged with killing Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Fabiano is an illegal immigrant with a long criminal record.

Despite a rap sheet going back six years, Ezeiquiel Lopez was never deported. Only after he was charged with killing Fabiano did anyone try to have him kicked out of this country.

Lopez, 44, is accused of murdering the 17-year sheriff’s department veteran while high on cocaine. Lopez’s history with the law dates back to 2001, when he was arrested in Utah for lewd and lascivious conduct.

In 2003, he was arrested in Texas on a gun charge.

In 2003, Lopez was picked up in Missouri for driving drunk.

In 2004, Kenosha police arrested him on charges of domestic battery, disorderly conduct and bail jumping.

And yet, this is the first time immigration enforcement had heard of him. “We can find no record of having had contact with this individual before or having had him referred to us by another law enforcement agency,” said Tim Counts of Immigration and Customs Enforcement....

In court on Friday, Lopez said nothing. But a fellow inmate at the jail said Lopez had plenty to say Thursday night.

“He was saying ‘I’ll kill another one of you guys, give me a chance and I’ll kill another one of you guys,’” said the inmate, who wanted to remain anonymous.

Lovely. Of course, by even pointing this information out, I've established my bona fides as a rage-filled nativistbigotracisthaternazihomo, so feel free to "consider the source."
